Emotions (2014-2015)
Emotions, feelings, and moods; this is the inspiration of my artistic journey. While other animals can convey sentiment it is best seen through human expression. I explored three categories of emotions: positive, negative and neutral. Visually I considered different postures and poses, expressions of the face as well as color or in some instances the lack of color. I also considered and purposefully designed environment to support the conveyed emotion.
In Fear, I used the bubble to express that the fear is as easily created as it could be easily destroyed, and the small, diminished figure in the bubble represents the person who experiences the fear and seems to have no control over it.
In Depression, the large looming face portrays the oppressing pressure (represented by the rock texture) we feel from others when we are vulnerable. It is the time of depression when we are falling apart from the inside. Also the figure dissolving in to smoke depicts the losing of the mind and suicidal thoughts.
In Confusion, I dislocated proportions of a face by using sharp geometric forms, illustrating that confusion can represent the organized ideas that are all mixed together and at times it is hard to connect them.
In Envy, a girl is peeking through the blinds, like a malintentioned voyeur. And the sharpened triangles aiming at the head aptly depicts the cutting, painful nature of jealousy that hurts her.
In Loneliness, this emotion can be positive and negative. I represented it in positive way. The yellow figure and the rainy, black and white city shows that sometimes it is important to be by yourself that you could concentrate on your journey.
In Opposition, the holding arms portrayed the society in which you can not express yourself because of the high level competition among people. And the figure itself is fighting to become different from everybody else.
In Indifference, the crying eye (tear) represents a person who has experienced this cold indifference from society; the hooded people in the eye reflect those who are heartlessly looking on, unwilling to help.
In Joy, I used warm colors on top of black and white laughing face of a little boy, which represents that a joy is always colorful and fun. Also I used little boy because children are always laughing, and it is the most careless and joyful period of life.
In Love, the two hugging sharing the romantic and warm filling. Butterflies portrayed that the love can not stay forever, it will gone away. But the connection between two loving people will exist forever.
In Trust, I used two figures which are very comfortable to stay like that but on the other hand they need to trust each other to remain in that position. Also they need each other and support each other, they cannot exist apart from each other as a whole figure. Which is in true form Trust.
In Peace, I used a serene peaceful mountain background and a meditating figure in a white cloth, which illustrates balance and strengthened solitude within a person’s mind.
In Frustration, this feeling makes you feel that you are falling apart, and you feel down. And to release this feeling is possible through a shouting as loud as you can.

Zodiac (2013-2014)
My art portrays the Zodiac. Since childhood, my favorite book was about the signs, and I saw this as an opportunity to learn more about them. My series illustrates the astrological symbols of each month and includes the ruling planet, the constellation and the coinciding visual symbol. While I did not intentionally attempt to depict “personality traits” some “ inherent” characteristics appeared visually in my compositions.
In Gemini, I painted twins with different facial expressions, which represents the opposing “moodiness” of this sign, a planet is in the middle while the galaxy floats in their heads, creating the feeling that they are one person.
Libra is all about balance, fairness, aesthetics and justice. In this work, a composition of figure symmetrically placed on the opposite side by leaves played the main role. I also used the same colors to equilibrate them.
In Aries, I represented death and life because people of this sign recover very fast, continually going through a start and end cycle.
Pisces the composition fills the canvas with an upward gaze looking to the heavens at the spiritual world coupled with fish swimming in a yin yang direction; this speaks to the metaphysical nature of pisceans.
In Taurus, I point out the interest in luxury and style of this sign by using black and white colors, which for me are the colors of classic fashion, accented by stylish and GQ sunglasses.
